Hello All,

I am taking my Aztek on a Gambler 500 at the end of this month. This is a project my father (who is a mechanic and has his own shop) and myself are working on. This is a low budget build, so if a fix is over $200 it will be hard to justify. I have completed a few repairs so far which includes repairing a front sway bar link, replacing a wheel bearing and getting the AC working again.

I never had the AWD Disable light come on, but when tried to get it to kick it on soft gravel it would not engage. I took it on a hoist and find that it can barely move the back wheels which can be stopped by hand. When replacing the Versatrak fluid, we have found clutch fiber pieces floating around. I am wondering of anyone has any knowledge to if the Versatrak can be rebuilt. Is there any rebuild kits available.

Just wondering if you ever rebuilt your Versatrak and how it went?

When I first got my Tek, it made the groaning noise around corners so I changed its expensive fluid.  Some fibers came out, but the fluid wasn't burnt.  A few years later it groaned again, so I changed the fluid, but no fibers came out that time.  Soon after, the AWD disable light came on and it's never groaned again, nor has it engaged the AWD :-(

When I took it in for something else, the dealer inspected the whole car and said the AWD wasn't working because of corrosion on the connector.  I looked at it myself and found none, but that's as far as I got because it seldom snows here.

After I get done with this whole engine situation, I'll look into the AWD and also ABS issues..

Rebuild clutchs are not available for the rear diff. I would wonder what he used...

I believe they might be using something from the Saturn Vue, it had a similar rear diff, but is was also way different.
