Rear speaker upgrade
«
on:

Looking around the local j.y. I found an Aztek Rally with the rear speaker option. Is the base 'Tek (like mine) wired for rear speakers so I can plug and play or will I have to run wires to make them work? Thanks

They are not pre-wired that I know of. I've taken a few apart over the past several months and have not found any extra wiring for the rear speakers and controls.

There is an article about some audio and speaker options here:

It looks like the rear speaker control and speakers is determined by the full body harness. I guess it's possible there could be a sub-harness in the back that could be removed and added as a plug and play, or disassembled and add the pins to your original harness. I need to pull one apart because I want to add it to the base Tek I have as well.

Well it does look like it will be a harness replacement. The stock base radio does not use a amplifier, and once you upgrade to the higher audio package everything runs through the amplifier. This would be a pretty big task to add in the rear speakers and radio controls in the hatch area.

Hi.. Sorry did not get any notifications of replies to my post. Still interested. I am not looking to have rear audio controls separate from the main speakers.
All I wanted to do is run wiring from the back seat speakers through the panels / or floor and up into the rear hatch area.. I would like to know if there are any good ways to run the wiring. or not.
I may just wire an amplifed sub I have and upgrade the door speakers if needed.
