Ok. I reeeaaaalllly want a DIC, but that's not going to happen. So next best thing would be a rearview mirror with a compass and temp display. So I've been looking on eBay and there are a lot of GM mirrors with this and map lights, and many even have the auto dim feature.

My question: which GMs can I buy a mirror from that will wire up and work right off the bat?

If there aren't any, I'm looking at this one. It's got plenty of bells and whistles for me.

The wife and I looked at a 2002 Stratus R/T before we bought Aztekkn.
We had it for a test drive for 4 days before I finally found to much wrong with it and took it back. Thank god!
Anywho, it had the auto dimming rear view mirror, that didn't work. I did some searching on eBay and other places looking for one, ( I really thought I was going to buy the car) and for auto dimming with temp and compass, they were going for like $129.

Well the ones removed from GM vehicles are going for around 30-60 + s/h, which generally is reasonable.

That one I posted....there's a buy it now for IIRC $179 but the auctions are starting at $9.99

im pretty sure the only nes that will work would be the auto dimming, maplights mirror.  but splicing is real easy and i can get you the diagram,  the GM mirrors and the ones with temp requires a temp probe to work i know you can add it on but the temp probe is 30 buck i think.   on the vous i added the auto dimming mirror and it was plug and play but it was an option too.   then there was the mirror that has that airbag light on it.   also you will lose the map lights on the mirror most compass mirrors dont have map lights so it dims the interior a bit.  jsut let me know if you need wiring help

So what is the wiring we have now? I can use that to cross reference. And I have seen several with comp/temp + map lights. Just gotta look for the right stuffs.
And yeah, I know the temp probe would need to be added. But that's not too hard. Just run some wires and stick it up behind the grill.

Should be a wide black plug which is wired for the map lights, and auto dimming feature but since GM was good bout deleteing items i dont knwo if its the same./ i believe the compass, on star, or the airbag light mirror has a big square plug .  the  cool thing is i believe Donnelly and gentex are the only mirror manufacturers  out there so most mirrors will interchange  if you get a mirror off ebay or junk yard just get the wire harness that goes to it and what kind of car or a hint and ill get you the diagram for that mirror  if its a GM .  i have an auto dimming mirror that was plug and play in my intrepid and even the Vous but i didn't want o give up the map lights. the compass mirrors typically have the compass in the base of the mirror and uses the power off the mirror .  i installed a auto dim compass mirror into my Buddy's Taurus and its just 2 wires  power and ground.  theres a wire that goes to the back up lamps so the mirror doesn't dim when you are in reverse but i never hook that up  no point i can see.  i know i ramble on and probably not make since  i was bad at grammar in school and cant form a sentence to save my life but i try to get my point across  let me know

I'll look into this tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
I was looking at my mom's rearview tonight in her 03 Toyota Corolla S and it's VEERRRRRYY similar to mine.
