Title: Right side interior rear panel removal
Post by: Tronman on January 23, 2018, 09:45:16 PM
So I was driving along last spring and was sideswiped by a semi.  The Aztek comported itself extremely well in this emergency situation, but suffered a big dent right under the right rear window, the triangular rear quarter window.

I suction cupped about half of it out, but I want to push the rest of it out from behind, inside the car.  How do I go about removing the interior trim?  I can sorta see how to get the speaker module out, but I'm not sure what I will find in terms of clips or etc. holding it in.  Has anyone done one of these before?

Thanks in advance!

I just replaced my subs because they were both bad. You didn't specify driver's or passenger side

DO NOT try to remove the speaker grilles, they are plasti-welded to the trim and will break.

You will need to remove:

*back seats and slide out tray if equipped
*all 4 loops for the nets - 10mm bolts
*trim on the floor by the tailgate - it just lifts up, there are clips holding it in but be careful, it can break
*three push in clips around the triangular windows
*seat belt where it's attached at the bottom - large torx bolt, I think it's a T47
*If removing the driver's side and if equipped, you will need to unhook the connectors for the rearmost radio controls and air compressor

The panel should come off now, the speaker pods are held in with 3-4 10mm bolts allowing you access to the sheetmetal. Just take your time and be careful so none of the trim breaks.

I had missed where you said right side, forgive me if I came off like an ass.  :-[

I was gonna say..  It said 'right rear' there in the post.. ;D but no biggie.

Meanwhile, thank you for the how-to!  After I get the EGR situation back under control, I'll do this next.

Hah, I am so sorry, I was half asleep when I read it first, then couldn't go back and edit it.  :-[
