I think most Tek owners find the all-seasons work ok for winter driving (the exception being the ones with 17" Eagle RSA's) .  I'm the exception and always run winter tires all around for all my vehicles. I currently run with Toyo observe  GP-4's  215/70-r16 (I think that is standard Tek size),  and have them on dedicated wheels.  The only thing I've noticed is a bit of harmonic resonance noise/vibration  at around 60-65mph, just a minor annoyance, they are winter tires .  The toyos are softer compound (IE studless type) and compound is the same thru the thread (unlike Blizzaks or Goodyear ultra-grips where soft compound only goes thru half the thread).  I am not sure about other the characteristics of others Like Michlin's Nokian's or the like.

If you have the factory 17"there will be no better tire than the
Goodyear Fortera's
they come on the Rally Tek and have outstanding all around summer and winter performance

I recently put these [20's] on my AV and they are very impressive

It is a tire that is made specifically for SUV type vehicles with heavier than normal vehicle weights

My original 15" Firestones have 29,000 on them and are wearing quite well. My only complaint is the noise level from the tires. They do track well in the s*** and wet.

My 03 came with 215/70/16 Affinitys and at 26K still had 10/32nds tread left, looked like new. But I have had trouble with Affinitys in the past and IMO they are a pretty sorry tire. I replaced them with Toyo Ultras 235/60/16 a premimum car tire that hols on like glue in rain, snow or dry. . .When the guys were changing them one of them was asking why I was buying new tires when the tires I had looked so good untill he got close enough to see what they were. . .Then he said to his co-worker Oh now I understand. . . . .
I have to say that with 26K on them they looked and drove great but I wanted the Toyos while I could afford them. . .I only drove on the Firestones for a week or so and even a little rain and snow with no trouble. . .But I cannot forget the problems I had with them on a F-150 I owned. . .I am sure I didnt give them a chance. Hoever the Toyos are wonderful and the wider size looks much better. . . .Time will tell. . .

I have to defend the Affinity tire. It's whats on my Tek (and probably quite a few others). I have had superior gripping in the ice and snow and the ride is quiet and smooth.
When it comes time to buy new tires, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase new Affinitys.

I found the government site rates tires.NHTSA Tire ratings

May help when new tires are needed.  These tests are done on a wet road without turning.

Aren't these the same ratings posted on the tire itself?

You could have the ones you want ordered in advance.  When I go in for tires, they never have what I want in stock.
