When all else fails buy two

WWW

Wink My 01 came with the standard 15" Firestone light truck tires. I know it won't be long before I'm going to replace them and I'm searching for some info. The only complaint so far with the Firestones is the noise, although they seem to be wearing awfully fast.

1. What tire came standard on your Tek?

2. What year is your Tek?

3. For those of you that have replaced your tires what did you replace them with?

4. Did you use light truck tires or opt for paassenger tires and why?

I appreciate any and all info you can give me.

1. Firestone Affinity P215/70R16 all season blackwall

2.'03 1SB

IIRC the '02+ come with 16" wheels standard and the standard tire is upgraded to the 215/70R16 size(same size as '01 AWD).

My '02 tek came with the 16" wheels and tires. I don't know what kind or whatever they were. I strongly recommend the upgrade I did however. Might be a little extreme for some people, but it handles great and looks even better.

replaced my factory wheels with 20"X8.5" Epic Miami wheels
replaced my factory tires with 255/35ZR20 Nitto 555-series tires. Talk about awesome! These tires grip the road like no tire I have ever owned. Everyone Asks what the "Z" stands for and it just means that these tires are for extreme performance and also have a speed rating of 160MPH. I can't say enough good things about them. If you want to have great handling and grip the road, then I would suggest these tires. Kinda pricey but worth it.
on a side note they aren't worth a dime in the snow! but they arent designed to be all-terrain.

My 2002 Tek came with the 16" Firestone Affinity tires.

I hit a curb pretty hard a few months ago and gauged the front right tire pretty bad and had it replaced by a local tire shop that day. About $100 bucks for the tire (he was the only place that had it in stock.)

I replaced the tires and rims on my 86 Caddy about 2 years ago with Pirelli tires and Epic rims. I really like them. I won't be replacing the tires on the Tek anytime soon, but when they go, I would consider Pirellis again if they are rated properly for the Tek.

3) Still using the factory tires - they have been decent tires so far for city commuting

Came with 16" Wilderness HT's.   Shocked

Still have them on as I only have 14,500 miles on the Tek (so far, so good).   Tongue

Would like some recommendations, however, as to what I should replace them with, keeping in mind that I get a lot of snow in the winter.   :code7:

Hey all!

1. Wilderness HT 215/65R16

2. 01 GT

3. I have 45,000 KM or 30,000 miles, tires have pretty much had it. I am installing 235/60HR16 in August. They are the same O.D. so it won't affect ABS and is the widest tire they recommend for a 6" wide rim. Check out www.tirerack.com for the best info.

4. They are a passenger tire.

My 02 has Firestone Affinity P215/70R16 all season tires also.

I have 19,700 miles on it and there is still 1/2" of tread on them.

Rotated tires at 10,000 and will again at 20,000. I know I should do it more often, but 10,000 has always worked pretty well for me.

As a side note, Every other brand of tires I have ever bought for other cars in the past have needed replaced before 20k miles. When these need replaced, I will be replacing them with the same tires.

Tell me how they work for you when you change to the 235/60R16.  I am looking to replace mine (later this year) with a similar change.  I am assuming you are using the original rims the 'Tek came with.  I keep getting told that they will rub (too wide).

As for the survey
1. 215/70R16 Firestone Affinity
2. 2001
3. Have not needed to yet with almost 27000 miles but they will not be any good for another winter.  I rotate at 7000 miles.  Looking at going to 225/60R16 when I replace them.

215/65R16" Wilderness HT's
(36,000 miles) tread still looks GOOD! Smiley  I rotate every 6,000 miles

I do want a different tire. I have a little road noise from them.
I like a smooth ride.

KBro, I can tell you the Firestone Affinitys I have are super quiet. Even with 25k the tires still look new(thick tread). The Goodyear GA's on my Imp are almost in need of replacement with 25k, they are noise too.

Goodyear has now upgrade thier line of Fortera tires for SUV's

I had these picked out for my AV, cause I don't l like ricer tire look
and wouldn't you know it, I found a Rally Tek on a lot, and guess what it had on it
Goodyear Fortera's

This tire is a little more aggressive than the stock one
but no where near an all terrain tire

May be a good choice for someone who is looking for all season and snow
