I was wondering if their is a difference in tire size. I was at the supermarket the other day and i happend to park next to another aztek. The aztek was running 215 65 r16 and im running 215 70 r16. When i go on tirerack.com, their are more options available in the 215 65 r16 size than the size im running. My question is would i notice any difference in handling or performance if i went with the 215 65 r16? I have viewed other post on aztekfan club and have found it to be very helpful. I greatly appreciate any advice on what i should run with.
P.S. i currently have a 2004 aztek awd if that matters much in the decision making.

Going from 215-70-16 to 215-65-16 will make the tire .9 Inch shorter so there may be a small difference in handling. Due to the smaller tire size, when your speedometer reads 60 mph you will actually be traveling 58.2 mph, or 3% faster than your actually going.

Also welcome to the Aztek Fan Club!!! Enjoy the site!!!

Also if you get really big tires you might run the risk of rubbing the inside of the tires on the wheel well when turning.. I have pretty large ones, and thus when I turn my wheel all the way it does just barely touch the inside wheel well..

And actually when I upgraded to my big tires from the stock ones for some reason my speedometer actually evened out. Whenever I go by a speedometer thing on the side of the road it tells me that my speedometer is now spot-on..

oh yea and my new tires are sized: 235/50/18

Its amazing how much tire size will affect the speedometer.  At one point I was running a 17x9 Borbet rim with a 245/45/17 on our Tek and my speedo was 5mph faster than what I was actually doing.

I have a set of KR21's on my recently deceased Aztek. They seem to be pretty good tires for the price. In the six months I've had them I haven't hydroplaned once. They also hook up a lot better than my old tiger paws.

215 60 16?
Those would be way to small. Are you sure you don't mean 215 70 16?

I probably have the widest tire on my Aztek than anyone else, i have Toyo Proxes St. size 255/50/R18
They dont really rub much only like once in a while but rarely
In the winter though they get snow stuck on the side of the wheel well all i do is kick it off and thats it.
By the end of the winter here in Chicago i might go with some Goodyear Assurance i bought some for my dad and they are great
The only problem is that i need to go smaller since Goodyear doesnt make the Toyo's size

Wider tires and lower profile tires in the winter actually perform less favorable than that of a narrower one.

Sorry I havent been for awhile. Ya know, that wouldnt suprise me if they were too small, they looked PUNY! I am quite sure thats what they were sized. I actually couldnt remember when I was originally posted so I looked back at an email from a craigslist ad I posted to see what they were sized. But maybe I just wrote down the wrong size. I would check but they are at my parents house right now..
