Hello, just signed up. I'm replacing the head gaskets on my 2002 awd, and the quick connect for the heater core hose is being a #@%$& so I know I can buy and clamp a new quick connect but my question is do I really need it or can I straight hose it and clamp it to the pipe? I'm fairly mechanically inclined and I'm leaning towards it would be ok but wanted to check first. Thanks for any help.

I just had one leak on me...the inlet hose.  I"m reading that the dexcool eats the insert up, so I just dremeled mine of the metal inlet hose and cut the hose and pipe clamp to the rescue.  haven't had a leak since.
