Original 2001 Aztek Owner. We love the car and plan on driving it till the wheels fall off LOL..  We have about 120K on it.

We have been having difficulties starting the vehicle with a warm engine the this winter.  I cleaned the throttle body and the MAF  and the issue has not improved.   We can get it started by holding down the throttle a bit and extend the cranking time to about 30 seconds.

Once the motor fires up and with the throttle released the RPM's goto about 1000 then drop to 500-400 for a second or two and then it goes back to normal idle if it does not die first.  There are no codes or pending codes at this time.  I nave a new fuel pump (Installed 8 months ago)  New plugs and wires 12 months ago.  Once things get going is drives normally.

Any Ideas Huh?

Some ideas -

1. fuel filter? I assume you changed that when you replaced the pump...

2. Plugs?  They are good for 100K miles, (my back three have 120K on them).

3. Throttle positioning sensor?

Can't think of anything else right now, but I'll post more later if I do.
