Title: Benefits of Paid membership
Post by: Tom Moog on April 25, 2006, 12:03:57 PM
Hello everyone. This topic is to let you know what features are currently available for "paid" memberships versus the free memberships.

First, the paid membership cost is $25.00 per year. This is not a recurring fee. It is only charged once through Paypal. If you cannot use paypal, you can mail a check or money order, and we will get you set up that way.

Here are the differences between the memberships:

PAID MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES:                                                 FREE MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES:

Additional Personal Message Storage space (100 PMs)                     20-50, depending on membergroup
Upload attachments and avatars to the server                                No. You may select an avatar that is already installed
10000 KB of gallery space                                                           1500 KB to 4000 KB depending on membergroup
Edit the custom title in your profile and on postings                        No Title based on number of postings.
Name appears in Green in the member list and online                      Name appears in black in memberlist and online
"Paid Member" title in your profile and in postings                           No

Features coming soon:
Access to new "Paid members only" forums

Ideas for features are welcome!

If you want to make a donation, but don't want the additional functionality, there are 3 choices, which will add the "Financial Supporter" title into your profile so that everyone can see that you made a donation to the club.

$5.00/3 Months
$10.00/6 Months
$15.00/1 Year

Thanks again! Keep watching this message to see when new features get added!

Tom, trying to get signed up with the $25 option... I get some odd paypay issue - keeps wanting me to log in after logging in and then clicking the 'final' pay button. Tired first in FireFox, then IE 6. Is everything working right for payment now with the forum?

Could it be that my forum email and my paypal email are not the same?

THANKS!

 -_-

Looks good Tom.  I do have a question for you about paying the membership fee.  If I paid $ 25.00 in December 2005, does that cover me then until December 2006?  Or do I need to pay $ 25.00 now to pay to April 2007 to become a "Paid Supporter"  If the money I paid in December 2005 covers me until Dec 2006, can I please get credit for that in my profile?
Thanks,
Brian

Ok... let me take these one at a time...

Aztek Knight...

The paypal system and the site are totally automated. Once you choose the button in your profile, you are taken to paypal. From there, you would sign in with your paypal e-mail address to access your account there. The information that paypal needs to make sure to credit your payment correctly is sent to paypal in a seperate script than the one that sends you there. So in other words, when you are sent to paypal, simultaniously, a file is sent to paypal explaining who you are and what you are doing. Once you login and finish the process at paypal's site, paypal then takes that file that was received in the last step and sends it back to a script on the site which automatically updates your membership. The changes to your account will have taken place by the time Paypal directs you back to the site. For some reason, it didn't work.

BTW, IF it gives you theoption for "recurring" payments, make sure that you turn that off. The system does not work with recurring payments.

Kansastek,
At this time, the automation system will not allow me to go make manual insertions. All of the membership upgrades are handled in the site backend, so the short answer is that I have no idea how, or IF it is even possible to make membership changes manually. That is something I will have to research and ask for technical support with.

97,
Yes you have and it is greatly appreciated! I knew the system worked for sure when you signed up!

***NOTE!!! WHen signing up, please don't send a paypal payment! Use the paid membership button in your profile! Otherwise, the board will not give you credit for the purchase!!! Don't use the "make a donation" buttons I will remove them from the site tomorrow.

Tom,

Finally got it paypal to behave... wound up being a third party cookie setting in IE 6, the default settings were to restrictive I guess. (I had wondered if it was IE 7 - living on the bleeding edge is tricky. Good thing I have two machines at home). Everything seems to have went OK now, thanks for all your work on the site!

I had the smae problem.  Here is what you do:

Go into your INTERNET OPTIONS and change the Security to LOW and your Cookies to EXCEPT ALL / LOW.  Then proceed with PayPal.  It should go thru now.  Once it does, switch everything back in your Internet Settings.

If it doesn't work...... buy a new computer  LOL

This is a Very old Thread,

The Paid Memberships are now handeld Directly and Manually by me.  There were too many problems with the Automated system.    So when I took over last year, I got rid of the automation.

But to answer your Question,  Yes any paid membership will be for 1 year from the Date you become a paid member.

Thanks for particiapting and being active on the board.

So is there a button to click on to become a member and you can pay at paypal?  I can't find where you click to become a paid member (hey some of us 56 year olds aren't computer competent (nor can we spell very well).

Thank you Chere, Crystal, Bear, Heshe & PurplePuppy (the Royal Aztek)

The Membership button leads to a dead page, so I can't confirm...but when I joined it was $25 for paid membership, and I 'believe' it can be sent via PayPal to payments@aztekfanclub.com...but don't send money there until someone confirms this.  I'm just thinking out loud here.

I don't know what happened to the Membership button.  I will have to get that fixed up ASAP

As far as becoming a paid member......

For a one year membership Paypal 25 to payments@aztekfanclub.com.

IF you would like your own email address in the form of   (WhatEverYouWant@aztekfanclub.com)  it is an additional 10/year.

Hope this clears things up

Hope to see you around the site

Yes should be, I became a paid member not too long ago, and so did others.
