Have I figured this out yet?

Stella.

Inspired by a punch line in search of a yarn: "Aye, Mrs. McMurphy's arse is a beautiful thing in itself, but it isn't worth a damn in a bar fight."  I've always imagined that a woman named Stella's _would_ be worth a damn in a bar fight and my Aztek's has proved her arse's worth many a time in the Central Valley / Altamont / Dublin / Sunol / E. Bay dash to San Jose bar fight of a commute many, many times.

I thought I had replied to this post but nonetheless we either call it the "TEK" or the Blue Bobcat as it looks like its in a pouncing position when its parked.

Hi there. I was a member looooong time ago when we had our first Tek. His name was Brutus (the big blue bulldog)!  Grin
Brutus -- 2001 GT AWD -- had every option there was as he was the prior companion to a "lucky" GM executive.

Now we are looking around for a second vehicle and our hearts are inevitably drawn back to Azteks. After all these years, I still haven't found anything to match its versatility and cargo capacity for its size. Incredible. (sigh)

My friends and I affectionately refer to my '03 blacked out Tek as "The Boat" because of how bouncy the suspension is on our rough roads.

Shes a green beauty with 780 K .

Bought her for 1500 2 years ago and have done the brakes, alternator, starter, full tuneup, new cat and 02 sensors tie rods and tires and she runs like a f'in champ now.

Tranny is going to go soon and then I know I'll be hoooped.

Would have loved to have had her from new.

Cannot believe the stereo in her....stock pioneer wow

My 01 was The Green Meanie. Had to give it back when the lease was up (couldn't get a loan to buy it). I cried all the way to the dealership.

There have been five in the family, I still own three myself.  All of them have been either GTs or Rally with AWD, Leather seats, tow package, and the blow you away 10 speaker Pioneer sound system.  We bought three in 2001 and they were named Pewty the Beauty, Snow White and Sun Flower.  Pewty was given to my youngest and ended up in CA. and given away when he was transferred with just over 200,000 miles on it.  My son oldest son bought his white one in 01 for Vermont Winters.  He just moved to CA. and traded it in on a Mazda and it only had 120,000 miles.  I  bought an 2004 and a 2005 used, both fully loaded Rally models, both with sun roofs and the 05 with XM radio.  Currently driving the 05 named Steelie and is the car I am driving still today with 180,000 miles and have the 04 named Money Penny parked waiting for me to wear out the 05 with 106,000 miles on it.  My wife is still driving the yellow 01 and it has 70,000 miles on it.  Just had to do the front brakes and rotors that were all rusted to beyond use since she just does not drive it enough.  Still looking for a Black Rally but never can find one with decent millage and all the options.  Looks like Money Penny maybe my last one someday, guessing five more years though.  Just love these cars!

My hubby has always thought Azteks are ugly ( Tongue) but I love them!  For this reason he started calling it the Big Ugly, which is a line he picked up from a movie.  Oh, I could not let that go!  "It's not ugly, it's orange!" was my heated reply.  And so my Aztek became commonly known as Big O, short for Big Orange.  But she has an alter ego...

Orange is my signature color. When I'm at a gas station or a drive-through, I often hear "do you know that your hair matches your car?"  I laugh and smile because it seems rude to say "Why yes, you're the 179th person this year to mention it!"  As a matter of fact, one of my hubby's nicknames for me is Peaches.  So when I'm on a mission behind the wheel of my orange Aztek Rally, she transforms from mild-mannered Big O to Peach Flambe !

2003 Gold FWD Aztek - aka "The Warthog"

« Reply #26 on: August 24, 2016, 07:50:49 PM »

Mine is "The Warthog", after the jeep like vehicle in the video game Halo (and all it's successors).

I often call it "Big, Gold, and Ugly" to which most people I say that to argue that it's not ugly.  Mission accomplished!  LOL

Other times I will call it the "Breaking Bad Mobile".   A couple of years ago I drove into Atlanta to see the DragonCon parade.  I arrived a little late (the parade had already started) and was stopped at an intersection where the parade was passing by.  Next thing I know they waved me into the parade!   So I rolled down my drivers side window and repeatedly yelled "JESSE!" at the top of my lungs.  The crowd went wild!  LOL   I've often thought of getting a pair of sunglasses and one of those Tito hats and driving around like Walter White.   No, wait, I mean Heisenberg.  LOL
