It's great to see the site up and running again. And I still have my Tek, "The Great Pumpkin."

Gone but not forgotten!!

« Reply #16 on: February 09, 2014, 08:42:13 AM »

I actually forgot about this site until i got the email.

I still think our old aztek was the best vehicle we owned in terms of how durable it was and all the features it had but unfortunately it was plagued with lots of problems and all of our problems were before we traded it in at 90k miles. Maybe because it was the first year for the azteks.

Still miss it though.  I figured maybe if I came across a 05 that was loaded at the right price I would give it another shot.

We replaced it with a new ford edge back in 2008 and with almost the same amount of miles on it now and all it needed was just one front wheel bearing that was covered under warranty.  Not all 4 like the tek needed.

Do you think we could convince GM to reintroduce the Aztek? Maybe under the GMC badge?

Good to be back, I enjoyed the two rallies at Cedar Point, Ohio back when we were more active. Since then we've been traveling a bit- I live in Rochester, NY and really enjoy taking trips with my 2001 Tek. Drove to Oklahoma City three times, Cass WV at least four times, Columbia SC more times than I can recall, took my daughter and grand daughter to Long Island to camp while showing them the Bronx Zoo. This year I plan to drive to St. Augustine FL in March, as well as various cities across NY state - West Point, Queens, etc (these are towns roughly 600 miles from me)

I would buy another Aztek in a heartbeat.

We just traded in a 2011 Malibu that was suppose to take the place of my Aztek but i refused to give it up.  (what was i thinking going to a sedan ! ?)

Went with a Mazda CX-5.  There is absolutely NO COMPARISON in the ride.   I even think the Aztek Pioneer stereo system is better than the Bose.    For a vehicle that was made over 13 years ago, it certainly was ahead of it's time.

Makes me wonder,  If there were other crossovers made back then, would the Aztek have been better accepted.

My brother was looking at some pictures on line and he was "wow, it looks pretty cool".  UMMMMM....you had seen my car for years and didn't comment that you thought it was cool.

It is interesting what happens over time and the opinions of people.

What an idea though.....bring it back as a GMC vehicle....I LIKE THAT ! !

2003 in Electric Blue

El Azteka is still here :^)
Although it is getting harder to keep clean and Modify him, due to school payments and HW, I try my best. I do log on here once a week since it is pretty much quiet but hey some people still post and if I can help I try
Since I always forget how to add pictures here I will leave a link to my FB Piks.
Last thing I got done was my HIDs. At first I wasnt satisfied bc they looked blue but I got them changed and now they are 5000K I LOVE THEM.
I think I do need to adjust my headlights aim because I don't feel like the HIDs are all that bright but we'll see
Here are some piks of him, hopefully they work b/c I have them locked(I dont really like ppl looking at what I have since I have no garage, but I always have him in front of my house so not that big of a problem)

Who else is still modding theirs?

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=587253571311679&l=4d09151ab4  5000K

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=471007696269601&l=9995b6bba8 as you can see I had the blue HID kit here which was supposedly 5k but to me looked more like 6kish

Great looking mod Hulkakajose - thinking about finally doing the lights on Blue but just have to find budget and time.

I think if they (GM) did some real advertising instead of tossing out two lame commercials, the Tek would have gone somewhere. I didn't even know they existed until I saw one in the showroom. Maybe if they did some commercials with rapping gangsta hamsters...

People talk about how ugly it was and all other things, but then you look at some of the SUVs and cross-overs out there and you see Tek similarities. And those cars are fugly. The first time I saw an Element, I said, "And people thought my Tek was ugly? I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those."

Welcome to the AFC from a fellow Canuck Keith (Toronto here)! It's an excellent resource, and has definitely helped quite a bit since I got my 'Tek.

I was glad to see the site back online. We still have our 01 which we bought new and I've needed this site to keep her going.  I never posted, but loved lurking.
