I've had the SVS soon light driving me crazy lately.  The car runs great.  All fluids and bulbs seem fine.  Anyone know any reasons this light won't go off?  The Check Engine Light is not on.

The light and chime will go off sometimes, but invariably comes back on.  Sometimes, it wil go off and on with chimes a blazin while driving.  Anyone have or had this problem?  :banghead:

did you check all your fuses?   Even if the daytime running light fuse burns it says service engine soon.   you could prolly go to a autoparts store and they usually can run for codes

Haven't dug into the fuse box, but the auto parts store said they can only read the CEL, not the SVS.  I will check the battery posts and connections.

Yeah, high beams work.  It's weird because sometimes it will come on and go off and repeat multiple times.  Then other times, as soon as the car is started, it comes on and stays on.

The only light out I can find is a light in the rearview mirror on the passenger side.  This has been out forever though, with no light before.  I'll replace it and check the license plate light, which I just realized I never checked.  Thanks.

Replaced the license plate light, didn't turn off right away.  But, this morning it went off.  Must have to reset or something.  Thanks for the replies.  Hopefully it stays off.  :banghead:

Can someone update us on this situation. I've had my light come on but because my temp ghauge falls below 0 at the same time that thelight comes on.

Now I've read a few posts on why this might be, but if someone has other suggestions or experiences that I'm open to any ideas. If you would like more in depth info than let me now. I can start a new thread with symptoms. I really need to figure this out before it completely breaks down on me.

Well, the temperature gauge problem has plagued me for about a year now.  I have replaced the coolant temperature sensor three times.  I now just go to Auto Zone and have them reset the code, which is "coolant temperature reading out of range" or something along those lines.  This makes me look directly to a wiring or electrical issue.  I read a post here that talked about wiring running under the battery box or something that was worn and/or cut in two.  I am further led to this conclusion by the fact that when the needle drops to the bottom, the reading has actually never been above half on the gauge.

That's where I'm going to look.  I think the wire going to it is frayed or something, and whenever it loses connection, it throws the light on, the car goes into protect mode (fans run), and the problem is there.

Every once in a while, like today, the light will go nuts.  Go on and off five or six times, then ultimately stay on.  I wonder if reseating the BCM fuses would help, but I'm a little afraid of that and don't really know which ones need to be done and exactly what to do.

That harness that tends to fray runs directly under the air filter box and beneath the master cylinder.  To access it fully, remove the entire filter box assembly.

It was all frayed apart on my 03- found by the GM mechanic.
