When I turn the right turn signal on, the high beams come on and stay on until I cancel it (it is not just flashing them with a forward push). The left signal is normal. The problem is intermittent. Short? Could be anywhere from headlight to stalk? Repair costs to search for it could get high? Other suggestions?

From the sounds of it, you have a lot of electrical problems. Seeing some of your other posts, I want to say your BCM has gone bad....common issue on the 01-first half of 03s. But for some reason, your problems seem a little different than a BCM. Maybe another opinion will help, but this one seems like perhaps a bad connection in your turn signal stalk or steering column somewhere.

BCM? What is that?

I think they are isolated problems, not one central problem.

BCM is the body control module. It controsl pretty much all the electrical gizmos and gadgets in the car...headlights, radio, dome lights, door locks, power windows...etc. But I agree, I think you are just experiencing several different problems due to the nature of them [not being common BCM failure things]

Do your headlights work properly? Like, turn on and off when they're suppoed to, and not come on in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping. And do your power locks work all the time, even when shifting in and out of park? What about your hatch release? All fan speeds work? Windows all go up and down? Those are more common problems of a BCM failing.

How much is a BCM? Labor?

Dash lights starting to not work (radio, etc.). Driver's window not go up. Lights and door locks work properly.

Yeesh. I wanna say something like $500-800, but that's just off the top of my head. The forum seems to have been dead for the past few days, but hopefully someone else will chime in and help ya out here.

I honestly thing you just have several worn out parts rather than a bad BCM. But it could be both. [for instance, just the drivers window...common problem - worn out switch....a bad BCM would be ALL windows and they wouldn't work period]

This is happening to my Aztek also. Usually happens at night.. the left signal blinks rapidly too. When I first bought the Aztek we replaced the BCM. Today I replaced all the blinker bulbs and both are doing the same as before. Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Correct that.. the left signal is back to normal Smiley

Wow ... that is weird.  Has to be a crossed wire or something.

I wonder if there is an issue with the flasher module.  It is a mechanical unit and could be failing.  A replacement can be found at local auto parts stores for around $20-$30

In sharp contrast to the LED capable flasher module that is electronic and well over $100

BCM is about $200-400 or so.... it can depend on where you buy it. Installation is about 1 hour and programming.. 0.5 hours???

The replacement is pretty straightforward and there are instructions out there: http://www.carspace.com/guides/Pontiac-Aztek-BCM-removal-and-installation

I swapped mine out in about 0.5 hours and the next day I drove it to the dealer to have it programmed.  The dealer only charged me 0.5 hours labor.

BTW, I got my BCM from here: www.monsterpartsonline.c om

It's the turn signal switch, replace the entire turn signal module, it's easy videos on you tube, fixed my issues, you can also replace the light in the radio and dash kinda easy... Lol. Replacement window switches fixed my window problems too.
