I've wondered whether or not clearing the cladding would maintain a good look.

Would that work? Is it part of the front/rear bumper? I've never stopped to think about it....

I'm thinking that you could prolly exchange all the cladding with pieces from an '02+  That may be kinda expensive tho.

That white one that, I think, drexel was talking about was really nice looking.  He painted the cladding and the black stuff all around the bottom that every tek has (the bumpers and under the doors).

I don't think this was the one I was thinking of but here's one example of someone who just painted everything.

That's not the white one I was thinking of either, no. The one I had in mind is solid white (after the paint).

When I return home to NJ, I'll look through my rally pics and post up his pic of the white Tek.  I remember that theowner said that he pulled all of the panels off of the Tek, painted them individually and then reinstalled

here is a link to another topic where MN Aztek has said how he painted his cladding.  He unfortunately no longer owns his Tek, and hasn't been online here at the AFC for quite some time.

I was talking more about giving the cladding a good cleaning and spraying a clear over it. I think it might just work. I saw an '01 tek the other day that had several stickers on the cladding, one of the stickers had come off but the adhesive had been left behind. In that spot, the cladding had the dark look that we're all wanting to maintain.

I really had no idea that the cladding comes off... where would you start?  Just prying it from a corner?

Very careful prying, I don't believe the clips it is held on with are designed to be replaced, they are molded in.
