Looking to buy a tent for my 2003 Aztek.  I've read where the tents differ after 2001 due to the spoiler being added the following years.  However, I can get a really good deeal on a brand new tent from a 2001 model.
I've read where a 2001 tent will work but may be very snug due to the spoiler.  Anyone use a 2001 tent on a later model and know first hand if it will work or just be a pain in the rear? (Pun intended!) :afro:

Also, I've heard the tents leak pretty badly.  Is this even after a waterproof spray treatment?

Any info and advice would be great!

Thanks!

I think there is enough play in the construction that the spoiler woun't be a problem. The times I have used mine it has not rained. The way it goes on the leaks could be from the tent-body join- the actual tent is made like all of them are- screens with zippered covers, double sewn seams... Ther is an awning with support poels which I have not used yet, it is rolled and stowed on the top in the photos. IMO any camping becomes problematic with rain, but if the tent is attached well it should not be a leak issue. BTW- the time the photos were taken I had put the tent on at 1:30am with a flashlight- took about 20 minutes.

Thanks for the reply.  :us:

We go to many lakes in Ohio and they allow camping only in the campgrounds.  We like to fish where we camp and there are many areas that we can pull right up to the lakes.  When we get tired we usually catch a few Z's in the Aztek anyway, so I figured we might as well make it a little more comforatble with the tent package.  We don't have the air bed either, but we may just try a regular air bed and see it we can make it fit.  Thanks again!

The rear seats detach which creates a very large space- I have been out with my girlfriend and while we use a comforter there should be plenty of room for an air mattress. In a couple of weeks I am going to be camping too- just waiting for schedules to synch.

I am still truly amazed at how much space these Aztek's have, especially with the seats out.

BTW, I passed on the 2001 tent.  I figured I better be safe than sorry.

I'm keeping my eyes open for a 2002-2005 tent,  so if anyone out there has one for sale let me know.  :us:

I bought mine through this site- the original supplier for GM had stock left over and started a thread about it. It was a while back, but you might want to search here or perhaps another member would remember the details better.

I just sold my 2003 Aztek which my college-bound daughter totaled on day 1 after we gave it to her for the new school year. Any ways, we kept the tent and mattress which we used only 3 xs max. It's for sale if anyone is interested. I can get pretty good shipping rates based on my employee discount. Shipping from NH.
Thanks, Dean
