Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time post. I am a fellow owner and a long time tek admirer. Recently purchased a gently used '01 tek with 115k for $750. it has most of the bells and whistles minus the hud. The poor thing had a massive coolant leak which of course was a blown head gasket. I picked it up on a Sunday added $300 in parts and she was running by Tuesday Wink

Although I am new to tek ownership, I am fairly well versed in their construction. My best friend inherited an '01 tek from his father which wasn't as well loved over the years as mine was. I had to trailer the poor thing back to my place because of a "blown" transmission. Over the course of a week I found a donor tek on Craigslist with 80k fewer miles and mildly botched head gasket overhaul. Picked it up for my buddy for $600.

Once I had both at my shop I convinced my buddy that an engine swap would be the best way to go. The new to him tek wasn't everything that the original was but it was in far better condition.  Over the course of 2 days we dropped the bottoms from both and swapped his good engine from his tek to the new tek. After a viking funeral he let go of the old and drove away In the new.

Long story short, being a mechanic and knowing the 4t65e and 3400 series engine and how relatively easy the swap was I chose to look for a tek of my own. So here I am 6 months later with a kick ass tek Smiley

I stumbled upon this site and have gathered some great info from it. In return I offer my experiences and knowledge as a mechanic and up and coming fellow tek-spert to the group.

Danke,

I will have to talk to my buddy, it was his car he took the pics. So far I have yet to start a scrap book on mine. I will be doing a full drop on the sub frame sometime in June I think. During that I will be separating the engine and transmission so that I can do an overhaul on it. Also at the same time struts and air shocks will be replaced.

I did start off with a possible C305 issue but actually narrowed it down to a 12 dollar part in the fuel tank. link here: "http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-FUEL-LEVEL-SENSOR-FUEL-PUMP-SENDING-UNIT-GM-VEHICLES-VARIOUS-FC-MU177-/381064889291?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AAztek&hash=item58b93cc3cb&vxp=mtr"

It was a thirty minute job.
