Didn't realize its been so long since I've been on here.  I only have access at work and for some reason my computer wasn't letting me jump on here......until now.  Still have the tek.  126K and running strong.  Need to get a couple new tires but that's about it.  Concentrating on getting the GTA ready for show and cruise night season and still working on the daughter's TGP.  Only thing inherited would have been a 94 GP SE for the boy that has been the best $350 spent......well $1K once you figure in new tires, plugs, A/C compressor, serp belt, cat conv, and some exhaust pipe to replace the bad section.  It had 120K on it and it's been the perfect first car for the son.  Hope all is well for everyone here.  I should be on here more now that I'm allowed too lol.

I guess I need to make this more than a yearly post lol.  Well, what has happened since then....hmmmmm.  For starters, the Tek now has 153K and still runs great.  Every now and then I get a little slip in first gear, but it's very intermittent so I just keep an eye on it and baby it off the line.  The lower control arm bushings are fading quickly, so that'll be something to change this year.  The steering box is starting to leak as is the lower intake manifold, but other than that, still been a fantastic vehicle.

We did lose a vehicle and gain one.  The son's 94 GP got rear ended and the insurance was very generous, so we ended up picking up another 1990 McClaren TGP, which makes two in our driveway now.....a black one for the daughter (which still isn't running BTW) and a red one for the son.  His has been modded quite a bit and is kind of a screamer but he's taking very good care of it so far.  Plus, he graduated high school this past may and is going to school in the fall to become an auto tech.

Other than that, all is quiet on our homefront in the Show Me State.  I am gonna try to check in here more as I forsee I will have "Tek" questions in the near future.  Hope all is well with everyone here.

WOW it looks like its been two years since I last posted anything??  My the time it does fly.  I am happy to say though that the Tek is still alive and kicking.  Just turned 204,000 miles and other than the ongoing occasional transmission issue, its doing well.  I put a little over half a bottle of LUCAS transmission fix and that pretty much took care of the issue.  Also a little surface rust starting in a couple of hidden areas as well but nothing that can't be nipped in the bud.  Fortunately, the only major repair since the last posting was an alternator replacement, LCAs with new ball joints, front hubs, and new 180 thermostat.  Still have been very fortunate that I haven't had to deal with the LIM (the leak mentioned before hasn't gotten worse) or the other common issues I've seen in some of the threads.  It fires right up and its become our back and forth to work vehicle until we get a new DD.  Then it will become a hot rod project (think Grand Prix GXP).  It needs a thorough cleaning inside and out, but still shines up pretty good and no major wear in the interior.  My one nuisance would be the blend door issue as it only blows heat on the vent setting and no other. Kinda hard to defrost windows when its cold lol.  Getting ready to do a full blown detail on it this weekend.  If I can remember, I will snap some pics when its done.

That's some decent mileage, Bill. The blend door issueblend door issue is so annyoing for me too. But that's nothing when you look at the big picture.

Holy schnikes, where has the time gone!  Hey everyone, I am still around and yes, I still have the TEK!  Currently though, its in a driver induced mechanical coma.  Yep, the tranny started giving me fits and I parked it.  We do have a new DD that we enjoy, but I am planning on getting the tranny rebuilt so we can get it back on the road.  I plan on using it for an around town cruiser and to maybe tow a small camper in the future.  I had plans for an engine swap and all kinds of other stuff but, I've kinda changed my mind and maybe just do a few things to beef up what I've got and call it good.  Its got 206k miles now and though I plan on keeping it as it will drive, I've dedicated funds to other areas I have put off.

Life has been pretty good overall.......not gonna complain cause it could always be worse.  Big news for me this year is celebrating 25 years with the love of my life.  How she puts up with me...........couldn't tell ya, but she does and I am thankful for that.  Hope all is well for y'all!

Mermaid with an Aztek

I see you have a 1991 GTA.  Cool Back in my younger years, I had a 1991 TA that was very fun with the TPI 350. We still love the TPI 350 as we now have this all-go-no-show GMC pickup with one.

We don't use it much anymore since getting the Aztek. One of the last shows we did was with our youngest daughter and her 1973 Chevy Cheyenne C30 early last year.

I did race her once on an empty road, we were neck and neck until she ran out of steam at 80 and I had plenty more to go. She has a 454 with a bad carb, T-400 and 4.11 axle while ours has a 700r4 and a 3.08 axle. She's a lot heavier (THE TRUCK!) but the GMC has the advantage of MPFI.

Last show we did was a very small gathering we were invited to which ironically was on the day we got the Aztek and the show was 10 minutes from where it sat for so many years.

Nice swap there!  Not something you see everyday.  I've got the 350 TPI in mine and enjoy it every time I take it for a cruise.  Here's a pic from a charity show I did last year.  My son's Grand Prix GXP is parked next to me.
