Nice one, you kinda had me goin also, LOL, was not sure what I was to expect, but glad you pulled through in being a clean member LOL.  I like looking at the drive shaft also, but correct me if Im wrong, but our TEK's have a cover on the shaft, kinda like in a protective casing?

Best way to tell dice...go underneath, grab it, and have wifey back it up while you hold it. If it spins, you don't, if it doesn't, you do.

I always wondered why in the heck they gave us a little farting donut spare and people with Trackers get full size tires!?!?!? It makes no sense to me what so ever. I mean, the xtra 60 bucks for a full size vs. the 20 for a donut?!?!?!

From what I understand teh Spare tire works just fine for the AWD,  BUT......You have to follow the procedure in the manual exaclty,

Page 5-36 in the 2001 Manual

NOTICE:
After installing a compact spare tire on a vehicle
with all-wheel-drive you will need to drive, with
light to moderate acceleration, for 10 seconds, in
a straight line. This action will allow the vehicle
to detect the compact spare tire and disable the
all-wheel-drive system. The AWD DISABLE
message will come on indicating that the
all-wheel-drive system is off. You may detect a
slight pull during this time, but this is normal.
Damage to the all-wheel-drive system will
occur, if the vehicle is driven for an extended
period with a compact spare tire installed and
the all-wheel-drive system in operation.
See “All-Wheel-Drive System” and “AWD
Disable Warning Message” in the Index for
more information.

Very good point clarkeaj, my friend said something about that also.
I guess in a pinch, at 10 MPH, you might be aight.

Wouldn't trust it at 1 MPH

AWD = hawtness.   :wub:

Always good to have reference shots of the underside., esp. near the lube-carrying parts.  Lets you compare at your next oil change to see if anything's begun leaking.

Not quiet.  She understands money and mentioning the 3000 dollar bill that would happen will make a impression.  (wow are those rear diffs expensive.)

Wink  I am new to this forum...love the pics!!!  Especially the driveshaft.  I am having a problem with the "front driveshaft?"  Is that it's true part name?  At any rate, I have a clunking noise when i put it into reverse and also, a loud noise like a bag of bottle caps rattling while driving or pressing on gas (never while idle).  The mechanic lifted it and said I had "two driveshafts" and the one that has the rubber boot on it..that boot is broken and bearings and such are exposed.  I've been trying to locate this part but can't seem to call it the right name or it's only available for all other cars and not my '05 Tek.  I think it is also called a front propeller drive shaft?Huh  Please help this very technically savy girl whom is stumped by this one.
