Thanks guys.  Just now seeing this thread...  Haven't been doing much of anything lately.  Spent my birthday at the doctor's office.  My back was giving me trouble back in February so I went in for an MRI to have a look at the herniated disc that has given me so many problems, but they pulled me out of the machine before they gave me the contrast and told me my pre-MRI lab work showed my kidneys weren't working right so contrast was a no-go.  Doctors got to looking into that and things were pretty bad.  Sometime between June of 2009 and February of 2010, something went haywire with the meds for my genetic condition and caused my calcium levels to spike.  The high calcium levels constricted my blood vessels and pretty much shut down blood flow to my kidneys.  I'd been having some symptoms for a while, but my Primary Care doctor had been shrugging them off.  By the time we caught the problem my kidney function was down to about 15% and I was probably about a month away from needing a transplant.

Since then I've been going to the doctor every couple of weeks, doing lab work and adjusting meds.  They have me off most all of my meds, including my pain killers.  Calcium levels are dropping slowly and kidney function is back up to about 25% so things are getting better slowly.  Only downside is that being off my meds can have other side effects that may show up at any time.  Being off the pain killers I'll notice them quicker though.  Maybe everything will get straightened out soon.

If you can't fix it yourself, redesign it since it was obviously poorly designed to begin with, otherwise you could fix it yourself.  Right?
