Is there any chance that we can move it earlier or later? Maybe when it's a bit cooler?

I know I'm not an organizer...but I think the heat is something to look at...

just a thought, not trying to step on toes or anything.  Cheesy

The only thoughts I have (and I expressed these to Newfie today) is to possibly also move all main activities to the weekend.  This would be moving the dealership activities to Saturday and the park activities to Sunday.  Only reason is so those that can't get off work on Friday till 5:00 pm and have a 2 hour drive can still enjoy the dealership activities.  And since Sunday is kind of like an unplanned day, it doesn't seem like a bad idea.  That's my only thoughts.

The end of June is a bad time for a lot of people. I know you got a pretty good turnout, but just saying that there are end if school activities and graduations, etc which make it a hard time for people to plan a get-away.

We initially set the date for the first rally based on what the Northeast group was doing. Having set theirs for the end of July we didn't want to conflict with them. The first rally was a week earlier and had problems because it was fathers Day weekend.

I think you need to realize that this was definitely not a normal summer so far. Last year the temperature was in the 70's this year the 90's. Average temperature for this time of year is 80 degrees.

No matter when we plan it someone will have an exscuse for not being there. Earlier especially won't work because of the end of the school year. If we go later in the year we run the chance of having weather like we did this weekend. July and August are famous for the Bermuda Highs that caused the weekend steam out.

As for the dealership I think we'll drop them and just have a get together BBQ Friday night. Kim, Adrian, Scott, Elisha, Mark, Sharon and I will be looking at alternatives the next few months to see what may be viable alternatives. I think Cedar Point will be out for next year unless someone wants to do it Sunday or Monday on their own.

If you are not doing the dealership ir Cedar Point, a possible option would be to hold it at a KOA campground, which has facilities for campers and non campers (they have cabins for those who don't camp with their Teks). There are enough activities to do at the campground usually.

There are several KOAs in Ohio (if you are looking near Sandusky again)...
Just an example...

I think if the dealership and possibly Cedar Point are out then it should be moved closer to a major city.  Columbus comes to mind and they ahve a few very large malls that people can attend if they want.  Who doesn't love a mall?

:code7: I like the dates, the location. And I hate malls. I want to go camping and hang out by the fire and drink beer with my Aztek friends, not go shoe and dress shopping (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Having it in June, gives people all summer and fall to hold more GTG's. I'd love to have a Wisconsin Fall Get together.

Count me in for 2006!  YF

The rally is STAYING in the Sandusky area!!!! A KOA campground may be a good idea with cabins for those that would hotel it. we're just in the very early stages of planning tossing around ideas.

I have my date set in red ink on the calender already.
That date makes great time for graduations to pass over. Considering that the rally is a family event that is definately something that we consider in the planning of the date. I agree with Jack, any later in the year it would be way too hot for any fun.
I'm a big fan of the KOA's also, but this years campground was very nice compared to one. Actually this years campground was better than the last KOA I have been to. The pool was very clean and really refreshing after the hot day. Also Im not sure how many others walked around the campground but I also liked that they also had some fruit trees spaced throughout the campground. I found a nice mullberry tree to spend some time sampling on one of Rylan's strolls.

I only suggested the KOA because of the cabins. I don't know if the campground you stayed at had cabins or not.

Some KOAs are nicer than others.

I suggest Golden, Colorado then all you boozers could tour the Coors plant.  Golden Gate Canyon is a real nice state park even cool in summer.
